Radon is a colorless and odorless gas, so testing is the only way to know if your levels are elevated. There are various methods and devices used to measure radon levels. It is essential to follow proper placement and closed home condition guidelines to ensure you're getting an accurate reading. Therefore hiring a professional is something to consider. The state-of-the-art RADSTAR testing devices we use for testing are classified as blind continuous monitors. The reports we provide offer time and date stamped radon measurements every hour sent by Radstarcrm, a 3rd party company. We receive a copy of the report at the time it is sent to our customers. If mitigation is recommended based on the test results, Elliott Environmental Home Services, LLC can help! But first, we will provide you with any knowledge and information you need to make a confident decision. We believe that the foundation for healthy air quality in homes starts from the ground up. Let us help make sure your levels are safe!
The RADSTAR testing devices we use are approved by the National Radon Proficiency Program. You can find that list of approved devices here: NRPP Approved Devices - NRPP
Our devices need to be active for a minimum of (48 - 72) consecutive hours inside the home. EPA guidelines for closed home conditions should be followed for (12) hours before beginning the test.
EPA Recommendations can be found here: 2016_a_citizens_guide_to_radon.pdf (epa.gov)
We will work with homeowners, buyers, and sellers to determine pick-up and drop-off times that work for your schedule.
- Homeowners: We will likely need you to be present for us to gain access
- Buyers & Sellers: We are members of the Bloomington Board of Realtors and can access homes on the market via ShowingTime.
Over time, unpredictable environmental changes can cause radon levels to fluctuate. Therefore, the Environmental Protection Agency recommends having your home tested every two years even if there is an existing mitigation system installed in your home.
